It’s crunch time, and you need a quick workout. How will you squeeze it in? Well, if you have these 4 pieces of equipment on hand at home, you can get a lot done. A quick workout of 10-30 minutes is all you need to get your day started!
The kettlebell is my number one go-to for a quick cardio and strength training workout. It’s so versatile and can make things quick and easy. For interval training, you can use this for a kettlebell swing, and then quickly switch to kettlebell lunges just by holding it in your hand. It provides a full body workout that can be accomplished in 15 minutes.
If you’re stuck on new ideas for how to use the kettlebell, try this Killer Kettlebell Workout. Complete the entire circuit three times and you can easily burn 500-700 calories!
Remember those recess days? “Cinderella dressed in yellow, went upstairs to kiss her fellow…” Jump ropes bring back so many memories. It’s small, easy to pack, light-weight and the best quick cardio workout. Just give it a try! Set your timer for one minute and see what your heart will do. If you’ve mastered the minute at a steady pace, try throwing in the single leg jump, speed jumping and arm cross-over.
Follow my favorite “Jump Rope Queen,” Kira Stokes for inspiration and a challenge. She is a celebrity trainer, best known for training Ashley Graham and Candace Cameron Bure. She has her own method and amazing techniques for creating and cutting the perfect lean body.
Height can be your best friend when looking for a HIIT workout. Having a bench or staircase available lets you increase the amount of movements you can do to target different muscles in the body. From bench presses and bench jumps to Bulgarian split squats, you can get a deeper challenge than just working from the floor. Plus, it’s a great place to add power moves.
The final necessity is a foam roller. It’s your answer to the perfect stretch plus deep tissue massage. This light-weight tool can be used everyday and will have the power to even loosen glutes and hamstrings which can cause a tight lower back and back pain. There are so many benefits to using a foam roller so even on days when you miss a workout, make this a priority.
So although these are some of my favorites to have on hand, the outdoors is always my place of peace. To take a run anywhere outdoors is like finding a place of meditation and inspiration. I don’t do this as often as I like, but when I do, it’s always a reminder of how beautiful our earth and everything in it is. The most important thing to remember is to just take care of yourself and stay active!
